Why EV tire economics differ
Instant torque, higher vehicle mass, and low rolling-resistance compounds can shorten tread life versus a similar ICE car on the same roads. This tool converts that wear premium into annual dollars.
How the estimate works
ICE annual cost = (km ÷ ICE tire life km) × set cost. EV tire life = ICE life ÷ (1 + extra wear %). EV annual cost uses the shorter life. The difference is the hidden maintenance gap in TCO spreadsheets.
Pressure and alignment matter
Under-inflated EV tires overheat and cup faster—especially on heavy crossovers. Check door-jamb PSI monthly; rotate per OEM schedule to avoid one-sided wear from regen bias.
