Solar is predictable by latitude and roof azimuth. Wind is predictable only after you measure it—yet the physics is elegant: power in the moving air scales with wind speed cubed and rotor swept area. A modest diameter change or a slightly higher hub can matter more than swapping inverter brands.

Why estimate wind yield before buying hardware

Small wind has a checkered marketing history because buyers skipped site work. The calculator is a sanity filter:

  • Does v³ math at your mean wind speed produce meaningful kWh?
  • Is annual energy worth capex next to solar on the same pole?
  • Is the resource strong enough for hybrid battery sizing?

It does not replace a professional site assessment—but it stops orders of magnitude errors.
